Event Descriptions:

3M Visiting Wizards
3M Visiting Wizards encourages young people’s interest in STEM by bringing fun science demos and hands-on experiments straight to their classrooms. These simple experiments show how 3M science can impact everyday life! A 3M staff member will come to your classroom or organization to facilitate these fun and educational experiences.

This program serves ages 5-12. Groups should consist of at least 20 participants, but smaller groups will be considered. You will pick your Wizard Kit from more than a dozen options including Air and Vacuum, Toys in Space, Wind Energy, and Simple Machines. A great addition to your classroom, afterschool, or summer programs!

3M Tech Talks
3M Tech Talks aim to broaden students’ understanding of science and engineering careers. Middle and high school is the time when most students ‘self-eliminate’ themselves from science career paths. Science and math can seem too hard, not tied to real life, and too much of a hassle. Typically, students have few or no role models for what a scientific career could be or why it is fun and rewarding. That’s where Tech Talks come in.

3M Tech Talks offer virtual classroom visits to provide students, especially those from underrepresented communities, with the opportunity to meet and interact with role models in technical careers. 3M volunteers from a variety of technical job positions, degree levels, and backgrounds participate. 3Mers will share stories from their own career path, guidance on courses to take now to prepare for college, and even demonstrations of the products or technology they have worked on throughout their careers.
