Carnegie Museums of Natural History & Art 2019
The Carnegie Museum of Art and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History are two of the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh. The Museum of Art features works of fine art, decorative art, architecture, and photography, in addition to special exhibits. The Museum of Natural History contains numerous displays of dinosaurs, animals, and diverse human civilizations.

The Museums are open year-round with the exception of the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Easter Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

No TFK reservations may be made on the following dates:
• January 1 - 3
• April 9 - June 11
• November 23 - 30
• December 23 - 31

The Museums’ hours are:
Mon-Sat: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Thursday: 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
Sunday: 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Tuesday: Closed between Labor Day and Memorial Day.

Open 10:00 am – 5:00 pm on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day, and Mondays between July 4th and Labor Day.

Maximum group size is 50 including adults. NO exceptions, no ability to purchase additional tickets.
Chaperones must be 18 or older.
Groups require a chaperone ratio of 1:10 for children ages 6-18 and 1:5 for children ages 3-5. Please try to have at least 2 chaperones.


• Requests for unguided tours must be made at least 3 weeks in advance.
• Requests for guided tours must be made at least 6 weeks in advance.
***Agency must pay guided tour fees. Please include in the notes section of request whether you want a guided tour.***

TFK free admissions do not include special exhibitions, only the standard museum halls, exhibitions, and gallery spaces open to the public (e.g. Discovery Room, Bone hunters quarry or Earth Theater, or regularly-scheduled weekend activities like ArtVentures).

Groups that wish to visit special exhibitions must pay an additional fee (anywhere from $3-5) for each person.

You MUST advise whether or not you will be bringing bagged lunches and are requesting a lunchroom. Even if no lunchroom space is available, the Museum will try to store your lunches for you.

Please note: there are no reservations for the lunchroom area (for brownbag lunches) available during the peak times from June 11th to August 24th. Lunches may be eaten in the Sculpture Court (outdoors) or on Schenley Plaza (re-entry on same day permitted).
